The history of Sambota Carpet Industries:

Tenzin W. Lhatsang, Managing Director of Sambota Carpet Industries graduated from Bangalore University, South India with B.Com. Degree and later successfully completed a course of study in Business Management from the British Institute, Bombay in the following subjects:

1.       Management Principles and Practice

2.       Financial Management

3.       Marketing Management

4.       Personnel Management

After successfully completing his studies, Tenzin worked in Co-operative Society as Chief Accountant, in Charitable Institution as Secretary, in Hotel Business as Asst. general Manager and then in Carpet Manufacturer and Exporter as General Manager. Then Tenzin established his own company Sambota Carpet Industries in January 1992. Since 1992 till the year 1999, Tenzin did exclusive reliable carpet business with one of the biggest wholesalers in Europe. Tenzin had a very good carpet business with his partner wholesaler in Europe. For eight years, Tenzin shipped hundreds of thousands of square meters of carpet to Europe. From 1996, Tenzin’s European partner, under its own auspices, had run Oriental rug storehouses at various locations throughout Germany. The specialized Oriental rug department which were directed under the “Shop-in Shop”-principle were centrally provided with commodities and market means. On top of retail chain shops, Tenzin’s European partner had launched modern logistics center. From this logistics center, oriental rugs would have been sold throughout the world. The customers would have received a constantly updated assortment of goods at especially advantageous prices as well as an extremely fast delivery and supplementary supply service. These two ambitious projects did not work as carpet business in Europe and especially in Germany went down sharply for continuous five to six years. Tenzin’s European partner suffered badly and since late 1999, they could not lift their ordered rugs on time due to financial restraints and thus advised Tenzin to diversify his rug business. In late 1999, Tenzin shifted his rug business from Germany to America. Since then, Tenzin has been doing Customs Designed Tibetan rugs in America. Since then and till now, Tenzin has digested the market taste and strategies of the American rug world. Natural abrash types of rugs are quite popular in America. Sambota knows all kinds of abrash rug techniques.
